Already the lucky owner of luxurious frocks and gorgeous gowns, Charlotte Smith discovered that she had inherited a priceless vintage clothing collection from her American Quaker godmother, Doris Darnell. Boxes filled with more than three thousand pieces dating from 1790 to 1995, starting arriving. Dresses from Dior, Chanel, and Balenciaga to name a few, were accompanied by a book of her godmother's stories and a lifetime of  memories. Smith's book showcases her grand collection with illustrations, including notes that detail the story of each dress.
